John Shrader

John Shrader is Assistant Professor of Broadcasting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is the Sports Media and Communication Coordinator.

He researches all aspects of sports media presentation and representation.  He has written about sports and national identity, sports television and Twitter, and the ethics of sports. His book projects include a look at TV and Twitter in the 2014 Summer Olympics and the soccer rivalry between the US and Mexico. He has produced documentary films about the media coverage of baseball’s all time home run king Barry Bonds and the new digital journalism delivery of Major League Baseball reporting.

He has degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and San Jose State University. John has been a professional sportscaster for more than 30 years, including 15 years at sports radio station KNBR in San Francisco, and nearly 20 years as a soccer announcer in Major League Soccer.

He is an Emmy award winner.
